The ExpressLane™ PEX 8603 device offers 3 PCI Express Gen 2 (5.0 GT/s) lanes, which supports up to three ports. The switch conforms to the PCI Express Base Specification, rev 2.1. The PEX8603 is the industry's only 3-lane Gen 2 device and it enables users with the ability to connect multiple PCI Express endpoints which are used in a variety of consumer and embedded applications including Digital Televisions, Set-Top Boxes, Home Gateways, Security Gateways, Cable Modems, Multi-Function Printers, Digital Media Servers, Video Surveillance, and numerous other Control Plane and Embedded applications.. The PEX 8603 is well suited for fan-out and peer-to-peer applications. The PEX 8603 boasts unsurpassed performance with its non-blocking architecture, capable of supporting both host-centric as well as true peer-to-peer traffic on its ports. The PEX 8603 provides two pairs of buffered, 100 MHz HCSL output clocks, one pair for each downstream port of the switch, saving BOM cost by eliminating the need for extra clock buffer(s). The PEX 8603 supports x2 port width natively on the upstream port which allows it to interface directly and seamlessly to embedded processors commonly used in such applications. The device is hardware configurable and/or software programmable, allowing users to tailor their port configurations and QoS operating characteristics to suit their application requirements. The PEX 8603 is offered in 10x10mm 136-pin QFN and 14x14mm 128-pin TQFP lead free (RoHS & Green) packages.
