Low Current 22dBm Medium Power Amplifier In LPCC2x2 for 5-6GHz systems

Description
The MGA-545P8 is an economical, easy-to-use GaAs E-pHEMT MMIC medium power amplifier housed in an 8-lead LPCC (JEDEC DFP-N) package ideal for use as a driver amplifier in 802.11a NIC and AP, and as an output amplifier for 5-6GHz Fixed Wireless Access. Although optimized for 5.8GHz applications, the device exhibits exceptional RF performance, power efficiency and product consistency in the 1-6 GHz frequency range.

With a simple input match, the MGA-545P8 offers a saturated power output of 22dBm and a saturated gain of 9.5dB at 5.8GHz, requiring only 3.3V/92mA for DC biasing with power added efficiency of 46%. In linear mode, the device provides a small signal gain of 11.5dB and 16dBm linear Pout meeting 5.6% EVM for 802.11a systems.

Features
  • The thermally efficient package measures only 2mm x 2mm x 0.75mm. Its backside metalization provides excellent thermal dissipation as well as visual evidence of solder reflow. The device has a Point MTTF of over 300 years at a mounting temperature of 85 oC.
