Parametric Search : 4-Channel Transceivers

Avago QSFP+ SR4 transceivers (AFBR-79EQDZ, AFBR-79EQPZ) are compliant to the IEEE 802.3ba 40GBASE-SR4 standard and are used for dedicated 40G Ethernet point-to-point links. The iSR4 optical modules (AFBR-79EIDZ, AFBR-79EIPZ) support both 40G Ethernet as well as the optical interoperability with the 10G Ethernet modules.  Both the SR4 and iSR4 modules cable support cable link up to 100 meters using OM3 multimode fiber (MMF) and 150 meters using OM4 MMF per IEEE 802.3ba 40G and 100G standards. 
 
The rapid growth of data centers has driven many IT managers to ask for a solution that will connect equipment over their multimode structured cabling with links which are longer than what was written into the Ethernet standard. Avago eSR4 modules (AFBR-79EEPZ) further extend the link distance of the iSR4 modules to 300 meters using OM3 MMF and 400 meters using OM4 MMF.  This allows a seamless transitioning for the data center operators to migrate from 10G Ethernet to 40G Ethernet without any concern of shortage in link distance.  Avago’s offered iSR4/eSR4 solutions also supports 3x increase in line card density at 50% of electrical power dissipation per 10G channel when compared with the 10G Ethernet multimode SFP+ transceivers.
 
Avago Technologies has also collaborated with the leading cable vendors to further extend the achievable link distance over MMF required in many mega data center applications.  The collaborated partnership includes Corning Cable Systems in early 2012, and later in the year with Panduit and CommScope.  The Avago eSR4 transceiver can be used together with innovative cabling solutions from these vendors to enable MMF link performance beyond 400 meters.  Please refer to the following links for the individual cable vendor’s partnership with Avago and cabling solution detail.
 
  1. Corning Cable Systems: Corning Cable Systems' Pretium EDGE®  Solutions provide high-density connectivity for data centers.  Pretium EDGE Solutions enable 550m OM4 distances that are inclusive to the Avago Technologies 40G QSFP+ eSR4 transceiver module product distribution.
     
  2. Panduit: Panduit’s Signature Core™ Fiber Optic Cabling System is the next generation multimode optical fiber correcting for both modal and chromatic distortion.  When using Avago’s eSR4 40G Ethernet modules, Panduit will warranty the link out to 550m.
     
  3. CommScope: CommScope® SYSTIMAX® LazrSPEED® 550 fiber solutions support channel lengths up to 550 m with Avago’s eSR4 transceiver modules. The combined technologies provide optimal support for higher port density switches and lower-cost 40GE solutions.
